Last weekend Nathan and I took his siblings and my siblings to Silver Skate Festival.
The weather had been kind of yucky, but it cleared up for the evening. We wandered around Hawrelak park and were in awe of the amazing sculptures.
We ventured near Baba Yaga’s house.
We dodged the lantern parade led by a firebird. I thought Akeema got swept up in the crowd, but she was fine and I grabbed her hand. Ha.
The firebird parade ended at the musicians. We watched some amazing fire dancing. It was mesmerizing.
Finally, the time arrived to burn the fire sculpture! We were so excited that we sprinted over to the circle. This is what the fire scupture looked like before.
And then they lit it!
Most people left after the wings collapsed but we waited until the entire structure fell – then we cheered!
Silver Skate was a great festival! We had so much fun and decided it will be a yearly tradition with the siblings. Next year we might even skate!!

Thank you for your post about Silver Skate! WE are so glad that you enjoyed it. Hope to see you in 2013. Erin, Festival Producer
Thanks Erin! It was the best! I will definitely be back for 2013 and be bringing a crowd with me.
